This annual hot air balloon event using paper lanterns has been held every September since the 1960s.
Local businesses and families participate in this colorful event. There are many teams involved, with quite creative names and some that have persisted since the beginning of this beautiful tradition. Most of them spend more than 2 weeks preparing themselves for this event. All the hot air balloons are made of paper, with shapes and characters capable to impress everybody.History
This event has been held every September since the 1960’s. During the first editions of this beautiful event there were competitions, for example: *Resistance competition *Height Competition *Creativity competence *Award for the most beautiful hot air balloon Recently it was decided to remove all the official competitions, but teams can bet among them regarding the balloon performance.Event
Lots of food and drinks are served at stands during the event that starts around 2 pm in the soccer field next to “El Torito” supermarket. Also, the event is livened up with music through speakers as well as live music. Great ambiance and lots of local and expats. It’s a fun family event that’s highly anticipated and sometimes more than a little dangerous due to the materials used for the balloons and the CFE lines.
